Observe, frame and make space for the person.

Observe before shooting

I first look at the direction and softness of the light. A window, a pale wall or open shade can help shape the mood. The aim is to choose light that fits the expression and story I want to convey.

Direct without stiffness

Good direction can start with simple instructions: adjust the body position, relax the hands or shift the gaze slightly. Conversation helps the person participate. Small variations give the session rhythm and keep the portrait natural.

Edit with intention

During selection, I look for expression, focus and consistency. Editing should support the light and mood while respecting skin and detail. A small, consistent sequence can communicate more than a large set without a clear selection.
